Expanded warehouse capacities in Sonta

On Friday, November 23, 2012, new warehouse capacities of "Uljarice-Bačka" Ltd. Novi Sad have been set in operation - two metal silo towers with the total capacity of 5,250t of grain goods.

The said towers, the installation of which started in July 2012, are now a functional whole with the concrete silo built in 1986 by "PPK Sonta". "Uljarice-Bačka" property in Sonta from October 2012 boasts 12,250t of warehouse capacity for grain goods and 4,000t for palette goods.

Živorad Smiljanić, president of Apatin municipality, and Đorđe Lazić, owner and director of "Uljarice-Bačka" company, have set the system in operation with an opening ceremony.

The management of the company from Novi Sad is convinced that the expanded warehouse capacities in Sonta will significantly attribute to the cooperation with business partners in Western Bačka county.

The plan for future investments in Sonta implies building an industrial gauge, 420m long, which would connect the silo complex with the Subotica-Bogojevo-state border railroad track. The said undertaking is being prepared with the cooperation of expert departments of Serbian Railroads and the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad.

An excellent solution was found for the development of the irrigation system, which means that, with full use of agrotechnics, the potential of the agricultural land will be exploited at a high degree. The plan includes a system of irrigation for 450ha in Sonta and 30ha in Aradac.

Upon building the planned warehouse capacities, the priority will become the expansion of land possessions. From the moment of purchasing the "PPK Sonta", which went bankrupt in December 2011, the company has doubled arable area, and is currently working on over 700ha in the Apatin municipality. Further strengthening of agricultural production implies the opening of new work places as well.
